This project aims to create a pilot network for the transfer of good practices in urban and economic development through the use of incubators.
It is expected that other municipalities participating European countries like Greece, Malta and Italy.
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of European Projects, has applied to participate as a promoter in the SEED European project within the URBACT program that will promote self-employment as the key to local economic development.
Specifically, this project aims to create a pilot network for the transfer of good practices in urban and economic development through the use of incubators.
Also expected to involve other municipalities in European countries such as Greece, Malta and Italy.
In this sense, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, stressed that "this program will have the opportunity to share good working practices between different European cities to promote economic modernization, and continue down our unemployment rate of 11 , 80%, which stands 15 points below the national average of unemployment. "
Thus, Puerto Lumbreras is a municipality that has two incubators, one aimed at young people and entrepreneurs in general, and another for women entrepreneurs.
The municipality will soon have a new nursery dedicated to cultural and creative enterprises.
In this sense, the Business Incubator, located in the Center for Entrepreneurship, encourages the development of economic activity in the municipality, and has 7 local, two offices, a meeting room, computer room, multipurpose room and classroom formation.
Also, the City has centralized all employment and training services in the facilities of the Center for Entrepreneurship, where you provide services as career counseling, job placement, or Local Training Plan that includes more than a hundred educational programs to year.
In addition, Puerto Lumbreras has a Women's Business Incubator of 790 square meters offers a conference room, training room, meeting room and several rooms in which you can install eight companies led by women.
Finally, the Mayor pointed out that "we want to transfer the experience of our community through the practice of business incubators, as an example of economic development and job creation."
