"The aim is to demonstrate the techno-economic viability of solar photovoltaic generation and isolated for distributed electricity consumption in places where there is no distribution network."
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras boost a pioneering energy efficiency project at Casa del Cura and Ethnographic Center via insulated solar photovoltaic power generation in isolated places where there is no distribution network.
Thus, this project will be developed through a grant from the Foundation CajaMar after presenting the draft Energy Efficiency Fund Education and Promotion (FEP 2013).
In this sense, the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Salvadora Martinez, explained that this new project is aimed to "be an example of how a small installation with a low economic level can have solar energy in isolated places where there is no distribution network. "
Thus, with the implementation of the project is to demonstrate the techno-economic viability of solar photovoltaic generation for isolated power consumption and distributed in places where there is no distribution network, such as rural housing and farms.
Thus, with an investment of 7,000 euros a photovoltaic system for electricity self-sufficiency will be installed without requesting connection to the mains.
"The facility provides the ability to consume free energy from the sun and contribute to sustainable development," explains Councillor for Sustainable Development.
Furthermore, the installation will consist of 750 Wp photovoltaic panels that capture solar radiation (photons) and convert it into direct current electricity.
The new center is located in the Ethnographic Casa del Cura, incorporates a room with permanent exhibits on agricultural and pastoral traditions of the municipality, as well as audiovisual and multimedia space that are viewed documentaries and multimedia works on the history of local traditions related to agriculture and livestock.
The Center also displays old tools and typical goods related to agriculture and livestock that can be visited by students from schools.
"This new space becomes a new tourist and cultural enclave with the offer created in the town expands, and with this new energy efficiency project we aim to reduce energy consumption to promote sustainable development, concludes Salvadora Martinez.
