• Steps are initiated to advance the drafting of the ministerial order to finally approve the transfer
The Committee on Technical Management of transferring water from the reservoir Negratín at Palomares (Andalucía), held today in Madrid under the chairmanship of the Director General of Water Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA) Liana Ardiles, reported favorably the transfer of 1 cubic hectometer per year to the Community Irrigation Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia).
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that this is "a historic step for Puerto Lumbreras, for the first time ever going to get water from a Transfer."
In addition, the Mayor has stated that "the government team has been working since 2003 with the Community Irrigation to achieve the transfer from Puerto Lumbreras Negratín".
Thus, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, said that "it is a great opportunity for the town's development and job creation, as the transfer of this hm3 generate new opportunities in the agricultural and livestock sector."
The approval of the Commission, which responds to the commitments acquired in the meeting of March 14, lets start with the environmental procedures and progress in the drafting of the ministerial order as finally approved this transfer.
The Commission also has unanimously approved the transfer over the next year 2014 50 cubic hectometers Negratín from the reservoir at Cuevas de Almanzora, both in the Guadalquivir basin.
