The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Municipal Council has unanimously passed a motion to support the measures of the Action Plan Against Child Poverty launched by the regional government, through the Ministry of Health and Social Policy.
In addition, the Municipal Council has agreed that the City will undertake to continue developing actions to combat this scourge in the town.
In this regard, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras launched during this holiday period, a free scholarship program for children of families with special difficulties dining.
So, after a report from social services, children in families at risk of social exclusion have been included in the dining facility of the Summer Schools for free during the months of July and August.
"This is a measure included in the Municipal Strategy Against Child Poverty and Social Exclusion, with which the Council aims to support those most in need," explained Maria Angeles Tunisia.
In addition, the Mayor added that "the protection of children is one of our priorities. To do this, we show our commitment and effort to improve the quality of life of children in our town, and to advance the realization of the rights recognized in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the child. On the other hand, note that the Plan of Action against Child Poverty has implemented the Government of Alberto Garre revolves around five actions that are performed by municipalities, associations and organizations in the Third Sector Social Action weaving a network of urgent care that reaches the largest number of children at risk of exclusion.
The actions of this Plan are that: 1) 1,150,000 euros to local authorities to cover the basic needs of poor families with children in their care;
2) 375,000 euros to the Third Sector, for the same purpose;
3) implementation of the funds for the Basic Income Insertion 450,000 euros;
4) a consignment of 674,487 euros will be enabled to develop actions aimed at assisting vulnerable social groups, within the framework of partnership we have with the Third Sector in Social Action.
The fifth measure is the implementation of the Commission will monitor the Solidarity Network Exploitation of Foods, under Law 10/2013, approved by the Regional Assembly for the use of food surpluses.
Puerto Lumbreras receive 13,000 euros Action Plan Against Child Poverty
The Governing Council approved the distribution among the municipalities in the region of 805,928 euros Action Plan Against Child Poverty.
Thus, 13,000 euros will go to Puerto Lumbreras.
