The regional government has given approval to a grant from the Instituto de Fomento de la Region de Murcia (Info) the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras towards the creation of a center of innovation, knowledge and technology transfer and expertise in nutrition, catering and gastronomic tourism promotion companies.
The grant is 4.365 million euros, financed entirely with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) allocated to Info.
The project of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Business and Innovation considers the adequacy of old Parador de Puerto Lumbreras, which has been given to the City by the State.
The project combines research, innovation, training and enterprise, and provide the opportunity to improve the quality of services and products related to gastronomy and tourism, and the development of the professions related to these sectors.
Also, the goal is to ensure the economic future of the area on a stable, durable and sustainable project that supports and creates new business opportunities in tourism, hospitality and catering.
Total investment is 5,456,250 Euro.
Of this amount, 80 percent comes from this grant, while the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras assumes the obligation to fund the remaining 20 percent, ie, 1,091,250 euros, as a recipient of direct grant.
