The aim of this work is to optimize the use of resources, increase the capacity of seasonal regulation and optimize supply infrastructure.

The project of modernization and consolidation of irrigation Irrigators Community of Puerto Lumbreras has an investment of 5,229,620.00 euros.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, members of the Community Irrigation Puerto Lumbreras and representatives of the State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure (SEIASA) visited the state of modernization of irrigation works being conducted in Puerto Lumbreras, affecting an area of ​​1,071 hectares and will benefit 250 irrigators.

Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, through the State Society of Agricultural Infrastructure, SEIASA, signed a collaboration agreement for the modernization and consolidation of irrigation in Puerto Lumbreras with the aim of optimizing the use of resources, increase the capacity of seasonal regulation (so that possible accumulation of surplus resources during periods of lower demand for availabilities in the months of greatest need) and optimize supply infrastructure, among others.

Note that the works are being conducted in three different areas of Puerto Lumbreras.

One is near the boardwalk Nogalte, downstream from Puerto Lumbreras, in the place of Higueral and Las Beatas.

The second area is La Hoya, right from the A7 motorway, direction Almería.

The third area is in Puerto Adentro, to the left of the A7 motorway, direction Almería.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, explained that "the purpose of the works that have visited today is the modernization of irrigation through more efficient management of water resources with two main actions: increasing capacity water storage and distribution improved ".

For this we have plans to build a new dam, the expansion of two existing reservoirs, installation of a new network of pressurized pipes, construction of a new pumping station and an automated control system.

Finally, we mention that the project of modernization and consolidation of irrigation Irrigators Community of Puerto Lumbreras has a budget of 5,229,620.00 euros.
