The Governing Council authorized the Instituto de Fomento (Info) to award a grant for a maximum amount of 3,050,000 euros to the City of Puerto Lumbreras for the creation of a 'center for innovation, knowledge and technology transfer and expertise in nutrition , restoration and promotion of gastronomic tourism companies'.
Total investment for this project, which involves adapting the old Parador de Puerto Lumbreras given to the City by the state, is 5,050,000 euros, and lumbrerense consistory will provide the remaining two million euros.
In addition, if the project is selected under the European Regional Development Fund, the contribution of info, which is charged to equity, it will be financed 80 percent with resources Feder (2,440,000 euros).
The center is an initiative that combines research, innovation, education and business, elements that constitute the pillars of the regional economy.
Also it will be an opportunity for innovation and improving the quality of services and products associated with gastronomy and tourism, and to improve the development of professions you link to these sectors.
The purpose of this project is to support and generate new business opportunities in the tourism sector and in particular in the fields of hotels and restaurants.
