Puerto Lumbreras held on July 7 Independence Day with the traditional Institutional Act in which they will present the awards to recognize the work of lumbrerenses and institutions.
The City Council awarded the Silver Medal of the City Cycling Club Ginés García on 7 July, to mark the act of Independence Day.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, stressed that "coinciding with its 40th anniversary, we have proposed the distinction of Silver Medal at the Cycling Club Ginés García in recognition of the work they have done, for the promotion of cycling have lumbrerense and promoting this modality among young people ".
In addition, the Mayor added that "Cycling Club and Ginés García Puerto Lumbreras have also been adapted cycling pioneers, organizing in 2009 the first Championship of Spain Adapted Cycling unified."
Thus, Puerto Lumbreras held on July 7 Independence Day with the traditional Institutional Act in which they will present the awards to recognize the work of lumbrerenses and institutions that have contributed, with their commitment and work, the progress of the municipality.
Ginés García Peña Ciclista
The Cycling Club Ginés García commemorated in this 2015, its 40th anniversary, being the longest cycling association of Puerto Lumbreras and regional reference in the lumbrerense cycling.
Already in the sixties Puerto Lumbreras had great love of cycling and leading cyclists, as Ginés García Perán, it was not until May 75 when forming this association was given by a group of amateur of the town, around the professional cyclist figure Perán Ginés García, becoming Cycling Club Ginés García de Puerto Lumbreras, lasting in time to today's date.
At this time Puerto Lumbreras has received numerous cycling events, highlighting championships in Spain, both professional and amateur, different cups of Spain, premundiales testing, testing regional and local, being a regional and national reference.
Cycling Club and Ginés García Puerto Lumbreras have also been adapted cycling pioneers, organizing in 2009 the first Championship of Spain Adapted Cycling unified.
And, in recent years, Puerto Lumbreras has become a national benchmark in this field, organizing a Criterium and part of Spain Cup handbike and tricycles for the disabled.
In recent years Ginés García Peña Ciclista has contributed to the promotion of youth sports cyclists of the town as well as the organization of cycling tests that have been consolidated in the regional and national cycling calendar, like the Trophy Cycling City Puerto Lumbreras to the category of cadets, Christmas Trophy, the International Criterium cycling or adapted Schools Trophy for younger riders, has also recovered the traditional climb to the Cabezo de la Jara, having these trophies with broad participation and impact media.
Cycling Club Ginés García also has currently represented in the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia (FCRM), through its secretary and general manager, Joaquin Lopez, who holds the position of Chairman of adapted cycling committee and member of board directive.
In these years the Cycling Club and Ginés García contributed collaborated lumbrerense in promoting cycling and the town.
