The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, said today that the transfer of a cubic hectometres of water from the river basin of the Guadalquivir, through Negratín-Almanzora connection, "will answer to a historical demand for irrigation of Puerto Lumbreras ".
Martinez-Cacho said the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment "is ending with the phase of the application public exposure we have been doing since 2003 to Puerto Lumbreras provided with guarantees of sufficient water for their irrigation, which are underfunded."
Also, the minister said the president of the Community moved past the minister García Tejerina the need to expedite the process to enable "soon" resource transfer this week.
"The priority is to provide irrigation water they need and this mini transfer is a commitment that will become reality thanks to the efforts of all," Martinez-Cacho, who recalled that this demand "corresponds to a work noted that has been conducting between the regional government, the Ministry,. the town of Puerto Lumbreras and irrigation communities "
The Ministry has exposed to public information documents for authorization to transfer this wealth which will have 30 days to make appropriate claims.
