The Ministry of Agriculture Water and Environment has concluded the contract of ecosystem restoration and repair of water infrastructure in the basin of the Rambla de Nogalte, in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, to alleviate the damage caused by the floods occurred in autumn 2012. The contract amounts to 159,000 euros.
The aim of the project includes the restoration of native vegetation own channels of semi boulevards, and the replacement battery dams located in the basins of the streams The Cardena, Talancón and snakes, tax or slopes of the basin Nogalte Rambla.
These dams were subjected to serious damage as a result of this flood, which precludes their meeting the function for which they were built.
To restore the ecosystem plant species typical of these channels will be planted: aspen, poplar, oleander and tamarisk, among others.
For infrastructure repair works were carried out such as new construction and reinforcement by hydraulic masonry dams gavionada foundation masonry walls ATM reconstruction and reinforcement of spillways, among others.
The construction of a new dam is further contemplated on the mountain of public utility Cabezo de la Jara, in order to laminate the floods in the catchment area of ​​the Rambla de las Culebras.
The works are at the Site of Community Interest (SCI) 'Cabezo de la Jara and Nogalte Rambla', which has its own habitat vegetated areas of wetlands, with the presence of malls and tarayales formations and baladrales, which it is a valuable ecosystem own channels peninsular arid Southeast boulevards.
