The Councillor for Citizen Participation has explained that "the City Council want this institutional gesture an example to other municipalities and sensitization and awareness about the social and health problem rests".
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the City Council, approved a motion which has been agreed that the municipality "City Solidarity with Alzheimer 'declaration and meet the commitments set by the Spanish Confederation of Associations of Families and People Alzheimer's and other dementias.
Thus, the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Andres Lopez, said that "the motion raised by the municipal People's Party group, records the concern we have for this major problem."
Moreover, he added that "the City Council want this institutional gesture an example to other municipalities and sensitization and awareness about this social and health problem rests".
Specifically, the campaign "Solidarity with Alzheimer Cities is an initiative promoted by the Spanish Confederation of Associations of Families and People with Alzheimer's and other dementias (CEAFA) to sensitize, inform and engage citizens and institutions with problem suffered by more than 800,000 people throughout Spain, affecting 3.5 million people between sufferers and their family caregivers.
The Councillor for Citizen Participation stressed that "will continue to support Alzheimer's patients, their families and caregivers. In addition, we will continue raising awareness and informing the general public about the need to diagnose the disease in its beginning".
Finally, Andres Domingo Lopez explained that "we are aware of the need to continue promoting new initiatives and measures to improve the quality of life of people affected by the disease and to their families."
