The Strategic Plan of Puerto Lumbreras in the fight against climate change has as main objectives the reduction of the impact that climate change causes the health of citizens, increase use of renewable energy sources by improving the energy efficiency, both in the residential and services sector and increase public awareness to their daily activities more sustainable.
This action plan of the municipality has more than 150 measures to combat climate change in these measures are adherence to the Covenant of Mayors, in which Puerto Lumbreras is committed to reducing 20% of CO2 emissions, another measures "Ecopuerto" is the accession to the European Awareness Campaign on Energy.
These two actions will be proposed today in the full City Council of Puerto Lumbreras by the Municipal People's Party to enforce the plan of action against Climate Change lumbrerense municipality.
With the "Covenant of Mayors" Puerto Lumbreras is committed to a 20% cut CO2 emissions by implementing the action plan to combat climate change.
Thus, Puerto Lumbreras is committed to mobilizing civil society to participate in developing the action plan, outlining policies and measures necessary for the implementation and fulfillment of its objectives and to organize "Days of energy" or Days Covenant of Mayors, in cooperation with the European Commission to enable citizens to benefit directly from the opportunities and benefits it offers more efficient energy use.
On the other hand, in plenary to be held tonight the present People's Party proposal to the General Protocol of Accession between the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning and the organizations representing the economic and social activity in the region to promote responsibility environmental and sustainable development in the Social Pact for the Environment.
With the accession to this Protocol Puerto Lumbreras City Council agrees to contribute to the progress and development of the Region of Murcia with the maximum guarantees of responsibility and respect for the environment.
These two accessions proposals the government team of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras presented in plenary are part of the Commitments section of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras acquired in the Strategic Plan to Combat Climate Change, these commitments are:
Accession to the Spanish Network of Cities for Climate
Accession to the Social Pact for the Environment of the Autonomous Region of Murcia
Creation of an Office of Climate Change
Accession RSCO2 initiative developed by the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning of the Region of Murcia.
