The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez and the president of the Association of Alzheimer Lumbrerense, Modestina Diaz this morning signed a collaboration agreement to promote activities to support the families of Alzheimer patients, as well as improving received assistance for one year.
The collaboration will aim at implementing the Action Plan 2008 "which will develop activities aimed at this group with a budget in excess of 28,000 euros, 10,200 euros the amount contributed by the municipality lumbrerense.
'Caring for an Alzheimer's patient is an experience that can lead to caregiver burnout, both physically and psychologically, not to mention the economic costs that the disease causes, therefore, we consider of great help this collaboration between the two agencies', said Sanchez, who stressed that "this partnership also seeks to answer with a great effort to all these needs and alleviate the possible stress, anxiety and isolation that is generated when the daily life of people is This Alzheimer's disease. ACTION PLAN 2008
The 2008 Action Plan includes the organization of conferences, seminars, roundtables, awareness courses, film forum, support groups, counseling and workshops for families, among other activities.
In the same way, there will be an advisory service on legal, sociological and economic assistance to family, psychological and moral, a program to facilitate, improve and monitor care for Alzheimer patients that their quality of living is high practicable, provide and disseminate information in the diagnosis of the disease and possible treatment, as well as knowledge of scientific and therapeutic advances in order to provide adequate assistance.
Ultimately this Action Plan, improve the quality of life of patients through programs of rehabilitation and relearning the skills deficit and compensatory and preventive treatment of intellectual decline and / or physical, as well as alleviate the potential stress of family members or caregivers to heavy dependence caused by the disease.
VILLAGE
The Village Association is an organization of self-help, nonprofit, established in November 2006 and formed by relatives of Alzheimer patients, as well as for professional psychology, physiotherapy, social work and other disciplines involved in care of Alzheimer's disease.
The activity arises through private initiatives to the needs expressed by families of Alzheimer patients and others interested in the subject, largely financed by contributions and donations of members and by grants from public and private as the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
The new store, located in Calle Doctor Jiménez Diaz, opened last September, has an area of over 100 square feet on one floor equipped with reception, waiting room, two offices, two work rooms and a room recognition, adequate space to develop its activities following its recent life as a partnership for a year and a half, and has a current membership of more than 60 people.
