This phone system is based on a mobile phone, dual handset, one for social and professional one for the immigrant, which is connected to a PBX which refer the language interpreter is needed.
With this service the immigrant will receive all the information requested in your language.
In recent years, immigrants who do not speak Castilian, who come to the offices of Social Services of Puerto Lumbreras is served by an intercultural mediator.
With the launch of this new phone service this group have access to information on all available resources in a fast and agile in their own language.
The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez explained that "this service have 42 languages, 6 of them: English, French, German, Chinese, Romanian and Arabic will have an immediately available, whereas with the other languages to 42 others have a maximum wait of 5 minutes "
The aim of this service is "better serve immigrants who come to social services, both for information and to apply any provision" Sanchez said.
This pilot project, a translator phone, which launches the Social Policy Department will also be used by the local police and the Municipal Office of Consumer Information in order to communicate with immigrants who need their services.
