Next Saturday September 13 and during the Dance of the Queen "The Fiftieth Anniversary Dance", the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras pay tribute to women over 50 years have been part of the municipality's history to be elected Queens of the holidays and thus representing the municipality for a year.
Since in 1957, Juanita Garcia Gomez was crowned at the Hotel Riscal then located near the current City Council, as the first Queen of the Festival, 49 women have succeeded in this office, accompanied by all of its respective group Bridesmaids .
"El Baile de la Reina", one of the most deeply rooted traditions of Puerto Lumbreras is the annual flagship event of which are held in the municipality.
In the course of history has gone through different scenarios, such as the Hotel Riscal, the Sacred Heart College, the Parador Nacional de Turismo or Camping "Los Angeles" to reach its current location in the Polideportivo Municipal.
According to the mayor "this will be a historic night for Puerto Lumbreras as we gathered to those women who with great pride, elegance and dignity have represented the name of Puerto Lumbreras for a year.
Undoubtedly be a night to remember and to share the living history of our people. "
In a year like this where the Puerto Lumbreras celebrates its fiftieth anniversary many activities that are taking place, therefore, the City Council has also sought to recognize the history of Dancing Queen, the traditional act of Puerto Lumbreras, unique in Murcia region and an event that in recent years than 2000 people in attendance.
