Elena Granados Jimenez was the lady lumbrerense most votes among the more than 2000 delegates to 'Dance of Election and Coronation of the Queen of the Festival' held last night at the Polideportivo de Puerto Lumbreras.
At 21.30 pm, the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras and Regional Representative, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, got in front of City Hall and along with the rest of the government team at ten ladies with their respective companions.
An hour later a carriage and the candidates for queen and her companions set out from the Town Hall Square, packed audience, to the sports center.
A 60 meters long and spectacular scenery that paid tribute to the fiftieth anniversary of the municipality and its 50 Queens crowned throughout history were in charge of that at 23:30 pm, the presenters of the Gala, Antonio Hidalgo and Monica Martinez made a spectacular appearance on the stage prepared for the occasion which marked the start and the most special night for Puerto Lumbreras after the great performance of the Ballet de M ª Teresa Lazareno.
Gradually, the ten candidates were taking their place on stage, carefully prepared for the occasion, which hours later and after reading the affidavit in an election by popular vote, the outgoing queen, Stephanie Sanchez the current Queen crowned 2008, Elena Granados, who moments later crossed the bridge to dance the traditional waltz, accompanied by the Mayor of the city, Pedro Antonio Sánchez López.
A new edition, and this year with special attention due to the tax that the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras wanted to give the Queens crowned along the municipality's history for his poise and enthusiasm and above all, to be ambassadors for the municipality Puerto Lumbreras.
In total over 2000 people, among whom were authorities in the Region of Murcia, as the general director of the Natural Environment and the Director of the Institute for Women and mayors of neighboring municipalities and the mayor of Lorca and the mayor of Eagles have supported this year 10 candidates vying for the title of Queen of the festival of Puerto Lumbreras.
