The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, general director of Books, Archives and Libraries, Francisco Jimenez and director of the Center for Photographic History of the Region of Murcia, Fernando Vázquez, accompanied by several members of the local government team, attended yesterday the opening ceremony at the Aula de Cultura de Puerto Lumbreras, `I remember exposure: Puerto Lumbreras family album."
The project has collected more than 600 images of the town and its people, for just over seven months with the collaboration of lumbrerenses themselves, had as main objective the creation, by digitizing them, of a photographic archive 'revives the social memory of the corners, streets and families of our ancestors to spread the story of our town in this', as the mayor said.
The exhibition hall of the Cultural Hall of Cajamurcia, is divided into two zones, one of which shows about 200 photographs, which also show additional information on the content, author and date of image, sorted by topics and subjects where images are as unique as the students of the 40s and 50s, festivals and traditional dances, games and typical streets, the Rambla de Nogalte, as well as holding important events of the May fair.
The other area is intended for viewing pictures by means of projections, which sequences through an hour more than 600 images will be screened courtesy of the neighbors.
'With this exhibition relive cherished moments of our historical memory where I am sure the exhibition will visit lumbrerenses very curious to see a village almost "unrecognizable" in old photographs due to changes in their appearance, landscaping, streets and public areas' said as the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, who also said, "is certainly a unique opportunity to discover the history of the town and its evolution, the customs of the lumbrerenses of yesteryear, thanks to the collaboration of neighbors who wanted to join this valuable project that shows images that help shape the history of a people through a project launched by the Center for Photographic History of the Region of Murcia (CEHIFORM) and the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras to promote the conservation, consultation and dissemination of local photographic heritage. "
CEHIFORM
The Photographic Historical Center of the Region of Murcia (CEHIFORM) was established by Order of November 16, 2001 from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, aiming to collect, preserve, catalog and disseminate the photographs and all documents iconographic contribute to meet the present and historical and artistic of the Region of Murcia.
Its headquarters is in the Palacio Aguirre de Cartagena, on the third floor.
It consists of a closed ward and negative plates and photographic documentation center, reading room for researchers and laboratory.
The CEHIFORM is created with an initial fund of about some 15,000 pieces including negative material and copies of copyright, which has been increasing over time through purchases, donations and deposits.
The center has the historical collections of photographers José Casau, Fernando Navarro and Martinez Blaya, the files of authors such as Juan Sáez, Joaquin Padilla, Antonio Abellán, Juan Ginés López and Oren.
And small collections of negatives of anonymous authors.
