This afternoon there have been workshops for children and young lumbrerenses and migrants living in the municipality included in the program "Education in Diversity", which have been developed during the afternoon with a view to improving coexistence and social integration of young people from other countries and adapting to new cultures.
The celebration of the first days of cohabitation 'Between Cultures', for native and immigrant population of 7 and 14 years, and organized by the Department of Social Policy, has had as main objective to promote attitudes of solidarity, tolerance and respect toward groups population with cultural, educational and social activities through workshops and musical activities, which have revealed the characteristic music of the major countries, leather workshops, folk crafts and exposure of a book with quotations from the home countries the immigrant population residing in the township.
"The Department of Social Policy continues to promote, so, to continue in the line of work that characterized the campaigns promoting awareness of situations with children and young people from different cultures, speaking with social inclusion programs, speaking to exclusionary conduct and promoting reflection on the theme of intolerance from an early age, especially in the areas of education, "said the mayor as Social Policy, M ª Angeles Tunisia.
The mayor thanked, also, the assistance provided by the colleges and the Institute of Puerto Lumbreras for the implementation of this project began in May and ending this month, aiming to facilitate the educational integration of immigrant child population, through support workshops and educational support to help children in the process of social adaptation.
Through the workshops the children not only learn to speak Spanish, but have been provided with the tools and resources to reinforce learning and other educational disciplines, including also a workshop for school support and introductory course to computer through a program that began in May and ends this month.
