The councilman of Social Policy, M ª Angeles Tunisia and the mayor of Education, Culture and Celebrations, Isabel García visited immigrant pupils of the project "Education for Diversity" which just completed efforts to promote attitudes of solidarity, tolerance and respect for cultural differences in population groups, educational and social.

The main objective of this program by students of schools, "Assumption Jordan", "Sacred Heart" and "Juan Antonio López Alcaraz, as well as the Rambla de Nogalte Institute is to facilitate the educational integration of immigrant child population through external educational reinforcements, since in their daily school activities normally not be included in the development of the class as a result of the language, as well as educational differences, so the project "Education for Diversity" is presented as an innovative proposal in Puerto Lumbreras, given the lack of specific action specifically targeted at immigrant children.

"The cultural diversity of Puerto Lumbreras is a recent social phenomenon in our town which is characterized by diversity in gender, age, circumstances and composition, as well as for the speed of arrival through the process of family reunification.

For that reason the City of Puerto Lumbreras has launched this program that ends this month, where after eight months of training, a total of 20 immigrant children, aged between 7 and 14, have held numerous workshops and support educational support where they have learned to become familiar with the Spanish language in addition to acquiring the tools and resources needed for learning and strengthening of educational disciplines, "said the mayor as Social Policy, M ª Angeles Tunisia.

The project "Education for Diversity" has also included introductory courses in computer science and the holding of the First Conference of Coexistence "Between Cultures" held a few days ago, which included various cultural and sports activities among children and lumbrerenses immigrants.
