The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez has attended this morning Murciano Research Institute and Agricultural Development and Food (IMIDA) where delivery has taken place, by the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, 7 mobile collection points , 6 sweepers and a mini car collection to the municipalities of Puerto Lumbreras, Abanilla, Alguazas, Bullas, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cartagena, Ceuta, Las Torres de Cotillas, Lorquí, Torre Pacheco and Villanueva del Segura, with the aim of improving carrying capacity and waste treatment.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras acquires, thus, two sweepers financed by grants from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union for the 2007-2013 operational period, managed by the Directorate General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control Department.
Self-propelled sweepers are autonomous vehicles capable of street cleaning to pick up waste for which they have brushes on the front and a device to spread water.
The municipality thus has two new street cleaning vehicles that will make Puerto Lumbreras a cleaner town and sensitized to the environment.
