The last plenary of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras approved several agreements concerning the check of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) submitted by the European Commission to revise the guidance of the Common Agricultural Policy.
As regards the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "Murcia farmers should be protected under EU's agricultural policy oriented properly.
The European resolution did not take adequate account of the situation of Spanish agricultural production. "
The proposed action from the EU is the acceptance of increased amounts of modulation or production beyond current levels of 5% to 10% in 2012 and linear increase in milk production quota proposed by the European Union.
Given this measure, which does not take into account the situation of deficit countries such as Spain, the full City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has decided to highlight the need to adequately establish a policy favorable to the interests of all countries of the Union.
For this reason, the session is opposed to increasing the level of modulation compared to current levels of 5%.
On the other hand, the full approval of the Government also urges the nation to accept the increase in milk production quota by the European Union.
The Plenary approved the acceptance of this measure provided the increase is asymmetrical and not detrimental to countries like Spain.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, said "the importance of this measure is that the position will lumbrerense both Congress and the Minister for Rural and Marine Affairs, in addition to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the region" .
