Puerto Lumbreras create a technical committee of experts to monitor these measures to reduce pollution
The town of Puerto Lumbreras has joined the Spanish Network of Cities for Climate order to coordinate and promote local policies to combat climate change.
The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces have ratified the request of the municipalities included in this initiative by the natural heritage.
"With this support, the municipality continues to work on their policies for sustainable development.
The program Ecopuerto of Puerto Lumbreras, which offers hundreds of measures, including the inclusion in the Network of Cities for Climate that will in the future to turn the town into a green city, "said Pedro Antonio Sanchez, Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras.
Spanish Network of Cities for Climate brings together cities and towns committed to sustainable development and climate protection through the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
Its basic objective is to become an instrument of technical support for the local governments by providing tools for sustainable development.
The initiative also contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the Kyoto Protocol compliance by municipalities.
With this accession, Puerto Lumbreras must assume the commitments made at the Aalborg +10 Conference on good governance and sustainable initiatives.
The municipality should act in favor of sound energy efficiency, develop a sustainable urban development, bioclimatic architecture and promote renewable energy development.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras also organize a technical committee for monitoring policies for preventing and reducing pollution.
This Commission will be represented the departments involved in urban planning, transport and environment in order to foster debate, analyze the performance of the measures and new measures to reduce emissions.
