The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has joined "Earth Hour", a worldwide outage that will take place on Saturday March 28 in order to promote the fight against climate change.
More than 2,400 cities in 80 countries worldwide have already joined this initiative which will involve the municipality with the blackout of several areas.
"Our commitment to the fight against climate change and sustainable development extends to all possible areas.
It is very important to raise awareness around the planet which is climate change, and thus Puerto Lumbreras joined this symbolic act that no doubt will break record participation worldwide, "said Councilman Development, David Piñero Ginés
WWF in this initiative involving 1,000 million people and will engage governments, citizens and businesses in a joint action to draw attention to the effects of global warming and demand that political leaders act to control CO2 emissions.
In Puerto Lumbreras, remain off the Docks, the roundabout at the Avenida Juan Carlos I, the roundabout at the Casa del Cura, and Castle Nogalte.
The outage will take place between 20.30 and 21.30, and is expected to involve hundreds of lumbrerenses.
