"Culture is one of our most cherished core values and we must work earnestly to preserve our identity and to value and show the importance of each of the elements that form part of their heritage" with these words had referred regional deputy mayor, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, City Hall lumbrerense approach in cultural policy for the municipality.

For this reason, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has presented its work program for the European project Culture 4 Children, whose objective is primarily to create a platform for conservation and recovery of cultural identity of the municipality.

The ambitious project will work on all the cultural aspects of Puerto Lumbreras, such as history, culture, health, education or food, which is the area to which the project devotes a valiant effort.

Researchers from the various participating countries will study the possible connections between each cultural field and its impact on quality of life of the population.

Lumbrerense The mayor has said that "it is important to develop work plans such as this project, which will allow Puerto Lumbreras share and disseminate their traditions and customs with other European countries"

Thus, together with other municipalities in Italy, Greece and Cyprus, with the University of Crete and the Algarve (Portugal) and the Research Institute for Education (Cyprus), the study will investigate the culinary traditions of different localities committed to the project and the relationship between the health of its people, customs, traditions and natural resources.

In addition, there is an important part of the plan devoted to specific work on the eating habits of students lumbrerenses.

This part of the program will include training seminars for parents and teachers on the traditional diet and its benefit in preventing disease and promoting quality of life.

Four Children Culture also intends to activate and mobilize the residents of the municipalities showing the value of local products, especially those who are part of your diet, and the importance of culture related to their eating habits.
