The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, made a visit to Castle Nogalte in Puerto Lumbreras, after attending this morning to the Monitoring Committee of the Promotion Plan of the Tourism Product of Nogalte Medina.
The meeting was also attended by Margarita Espinosa, delegated by the Secretary General of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the local mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, director general of tourism infrastructure of the Autonomous Community, Marina Garcia and the president of the Federation of Hospitality Business in the Region of Murcia (Hostemur), Soledad Díaz.
Revitalization Plan of the Tourism Product Medina Nogalte develops from the collaboration agreement signed last August in the Government Office for the Secretary of State for Tourism, Joan Mesquida, the Ministry of Tourism and Consumer Affairs of the Autonomous Community The Tourism Consortium and Hostemur Nogalte Medina.
The Plan's overall budget is 3.3 million euros, of which the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce provides an amount of one million one hundred thousand euros over the three annual installments between 2008 and 2010.
The Plan considers Puerto Lumbreras as an emerging tourist destination in the Murcia regional outlook and believes the town can be a portal in the region to complement the coastal destinations, and consolidated, and compete with other indoor spaces emerging tourist and cultural .
Infrastructure and tourist facilities
Consequently, the fundamental objective of Plan to Promote Tourism Product Nogalte Medina is planning an integrated and coherent set of actions in terms of infrastructure and tourist facilities, especially in relation to the enhancement of Nogalte Castle Hill in Puerto Lumbreras.
To obtain arises incorporate measures such as better accessibility and image of the old town and other complementary activities in the hydrographic heritage, landscape and ethnographic resources.
Finally, at the local level, is to create a product through the recovery and enhancement of cultural heritage to be earmarked for tourism uses, recreational, cultural and residential.
