The Government delegate proposed that the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras an agreement on security
The government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, has co-chaired this morning with the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, Local Safety Board convened by the City Council to discuss the security situation in the area and coordinate actions among different Security Forces and in order to achieve greater efficiency.
González Tovar has reiterated its confidence in the role of this body to improve the collaboration of the National Police and Civil Guard and the local police of the municipalities in our region and give citizens a better service.
About the actions of the Corps and State Security Forces in the area has highlighted that over the first quarter of 2008, in the same period in 2009 there was a decrease of 3.8 percent of robberies in things and 33 percent in robbery.
Has also declined by 42 percent damage to persons, including abuse within the family.
Troop surge and security investments
With regard to the provision of the Civil Guard troops, the government delegate noted that in the past four years have seen an increase of 22 percent of agents, so that agents has increased from 9 in 2004 to 11 in 2009, providing its services steadily in Puerto Lumbreras.
He also reported that under Plan E of the Government of Spain, specifically in regard to home improvement headquarters, to be invested during 2009 a total of 304,468 euros to rehabilitate the barracks in Puerto Lumbreras.
In this sense he said that "this increase in cash and investments are an expression of commitment and effort that the Government of Spain is making to improve public safety in the whole region."
Safety Partnership Agreement
The delegate of the Government also proposed to the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras sign a partnership agreement on security, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the National Police, the Guardia Civil and Local Police.
This agreement would entail the development of a Local Safety Plan that would include joint action programs and planned, a protocol for assistance in automated information or the installation of a shared technical operations.
"These types of agreements already signed with five municipalities in the region (Molina de Segura, Jumilla, Caravaca, Blanca, Cieza Beniel and) is an objective of this delegation, since we could improve service delivery, optimize available resources and move forward in improving public safety, "he pointed out.
