The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Tourism Promotion Plan, the planning and developing actions to recover the whole of the medieval fortress, cave houses, and associated areas, and promote its value.
The cave houses more than 150 existing on the northern slope of the hill, where actions are already being developed for their recovery, provide an excellent opportunity for tourism and interpretive use.
Through the Tourism Promotion Plan Nogalte Medina, is being developed by the project which will carry out a series of works that focus on the themes of the cave houses situated next to Castle Nogalte.
These works are scheduled to begin later this year.
The above theming is to adapt these spaces, to form a tourist-cultural route, which will be offered to visitors to learn important aspects such as the existence of an Islamic fortress, the caves used as dwellings for centuries, the importance of water crafts for the local economy.
Craftsman House Workshop
The four caves that make up this space craft will host the museological activity related to the different entities of the Association of Artisans of Puerto Lumbreras, exhibition of handicrafts and the sale to visitors.
Cave 'El Cerro de Nogalte: we recover our history'
In this Cave House will be put on the heritage values of the Cerro del Castillo de Nogalte, through a system of interpretive panels.

Dos Casas Cueva is dedicated to communicate the uniqueness and evolution of human use of caves in southeast mainland and in Puerto Lumbreras from prehistoric until recent times, highlighting issues such as developments in the use of the caves, the habitat at the Cave Hill Nogalte or socio-economic and population in these cave houses.
Cave 'The Culture of Water'
In this cave will present the importance of water in Puerto Lumbreras, establishing a route on a sense of movement to present the routes of water from its collection, storage and distribution to different uses in traditional and current activities
Cave 'Medieval Castle Nogalte: Islamic enclave'
This cave is devoted to presenting the topics Nogalte Castle and the corridor of time Guadalentín border and archaeological research in Nogalte Castle.
Audiovisual Cave
This space is intended to accommodate a broad cultural programming throughout the year with capacity for small groups, paying particular attention to the production of local artists.
Teaching Cave
This cave is intended to support the development of educational and training activities targeted at groups organized by scheduling specific workshops related to cultural visit to the Cerro de Nogalte.
The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez explained that "with these actions we make Puerto Lumbreras in a tourist town, which is not only a place of passage, but one more stop in which citizens have a wide range of cultural and tourist '.
He concluded by recalling that "in developing this plan has been instrumental in the collaboration between the State, the Autonomous Community and the City '.
