Will keep the home environment with orange groves and olive trees to create a public park that reflects the agricultural lifestyle
The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, today announced the proposed conversion of the Casa del Cura Puerto Lumbreras into a municipal museum of culture in the Region of Murcia .
In addition, keep the surroundings of the Casa del Cura, which now has orange groves and olive trees in an area exceeding 7,000 square meters, to create a public park that reflects the lifestyle of the agricultural season.
José Ballesta said that "this type of action we seek to maintain the traditional architecture of our people, supporting the consistory in the rehabilitation of regional architectural heritage through the grant program of the Directorate General of Land and Housing."
The Minister stressed that "the Ministry, through the Directorate General of Planning and Housing, has funded the design competition for the rehabilitation of Casa del Cura, a manor house built in the nineteenth century with more than 1,300 square meters and part of regional architectural heritage. "
The building, located in an area of recent expansion of the village to the hamlet of El Esparragal, has a structure typical rural farmhouse, which is the goal of the remodel.
The aim with this performance is, as José Ballesta, "restore the habits and customs of a historical period characterized by an agricultural and livestock through the physical traces of the original carrier involved in this landmark."
Regional historical heritage
The house was built by Juan Arcas and inhabited for years by Alberto Marzal.
La Casa del Cura is part of the Cultural Tourist Plan implemented by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, next to the Castle Nogalte rehabilitation and refurbishment of 150 homes near cave.
The farm has a house with two floors and large balconies, and a room where formerly kept the farm and people residing in charge of maintaining the land.
