The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Education has awarded annual scholarships for school transport.
More than 50 young students have received scholarships in a ceremony chaired by the Councillor for Education, Isabel García, and the Councillor for Social Policy and Employment, M ª Angeles Tunisia.
According to the Councillor for Education, Isabel García, "the council hands out these awards annually in order to help young students from the municipality to require daily travel to reach their schools."
This pioneering initiative in the municipality, provides students with aid granted in addition to other grants to regional or state level.
Among the young scholars, students are training, Language Schools, Schools, Universities, and even students of the conservatory.
At the conclusion of the scholarship award ceremony, the Councillor for Education, Isabel García, stressed that "this initiative is increasing year after year the number of grants awarded to students in the city.
The scholarships serve to offset the educational expenses of transportation of local youths. "
