Puerto Lumbreras City Council has approved in full last name 'Pastor Agustín Ortega Tárraga' for the new Day Care Centre for older people.
The council has adopted this name as a memorial to the work of which he was pastor in the town during the decade of the 30's.
According to the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "with the name of the new equipment is a posthumous tribute to the work of social assistance and commitment of the pastor Tárraga Ortega to the neediest people in the municipality.
His memory continues in many citizens, and therefore makes this just recognition. "
Tárraga Agustin Ortega was born in Yecla (Murcia) in 1895.
He began his pastoral work in Puerto Lumbreras before the Civil War.
At the outbreak of War (1936) had to leave his post, but when he returned to Puerto Lumbreras ended where he began a new era in front of the Parroquia Nuestra Señora Virgen del Rosario in April 1941, when he died and was buried Municipal Cemetery in Puerto Lumbreras.
Last year his remains were moved to the foot of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church of Puerto Lumbreras.

The new Day Care Centre 'Pastor Agustín Ortega Tárraga' has an infrastructure of over 800 square feet on two floors.
The ground floor is devoted to dependent older people, while the other will go to people with Alzheimer's disease.
The center will have qualified as nurses, psychologists, social workers or occupational therapists in order to meet the needs of dependent people who stay during the day.
The infrastructure will initially have 25 beds for elderly dependents, 12 people with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and 3 for social emergencies.
The center also features an auditorium, cafeteria, dining room, kitchen, occupational therapy room and a room gerontogimnasia.
