The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras signed a collaboration agreement with the Instituto de Fomento Region de Murcia to boost the industrial land in the municipality, to the border with the industrial SAPRELORCA.
According to the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "with the formalization of this new collaboration agreement, the municipality and the Institute of Development will work on the development of the business in Puerto Lumbreras through two strands: the expansion of industrial estate the municipality, and the study of alternative management and development of the axis-Lorca Puerto Lumbreras.
The Institute of Development prepare a study Strategic Management and Development Alternatives, which will be discussed with the planning and entire industrial hub, which will ensure the quality and viability of the industrial area-Lorca Puerto Lumbreras.
Furthermore, the collaboration agreement provides for a Feasibility Plan to develop the Institute of Development for the development of the extension of industrial estate, to ensure the quality and viability of the entire area including, and that in turn includes alternative management and financing.

The first phase of expansion of industrial area of Puerto Lumbreras has 374,000 meters squared.
