The new containers, which have been funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water through the Directorate General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, are located in the old town and urban center of town.
The underground system has quiet and packaging containers to hide under the road reducing the environmental impact.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Works and Environment, has installed five new underground containers in different areas of the old town and urban center of town.
Each container has two mailboxes, one for the selective waste collection, and other organic waste.
According to Councilman Works and Environment, Eliseo Sanchez, "Puerto Lumbreras was one of the local pioneers in installing this type of container.
With this new action we now have 11 modules of this type of container spread over the main points of the town. "
The underground system is designed to allow recycling, distributed in different parts depots for the collection.
The waste is deposited through boxes installed at street level, marked for each type of collection, made of stainless steel.
Specifically, the containers are located, a module on Main Street, two in Almeria Avenue and two more in the San Francisco street.
Councilman Works and Environment, Eliseo Sánchez, explained that "for the location of the new container modules have been taken into account the distribution of containers on the surface, as well as forecasts of growth in waste production."
