The project is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union which aims to promote sustainable economic development through cooperation and mobility between European institutions and educational systems.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Local Development Centre, has applied for participation in the European project 'Garden Enterprise' that promotes the Association Leonardo Da Vinci to boost training and business development in agriculture and horticulture.
According to the Councillor for Employment and Social Policy, M ª Angeles Tunisia, "Through this project, the municipality lumbrerense seeks to promote the development of agriculture and horticulture through collaboration with other European Union countries.
The project will enable the implementation of more training programs and information campaigns aimed at employers, students and local associations in this sector. "
Specifically, the project 'Garden Enterprise' aims to improve and enhance cooperation between research centers, learning, business and social partners in the European Union to promote the development of agriculture and horticulture.
The project is organized by the Association Leonardo Da Vinci under the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union contributes to the development of Europe as an advanced knowledge society with sustainable economic development and greater social cohesion.
The program will also enhance exchanges, cooperation and mobility between schools and educational and training systems within the European Union.
Finally, the Project 'Garden Enterprise' will promote educational programs, courses and visits to local farms to promote agricultural and horticultural activities, in addition to informing students about the opportunities offered training programs and university courses related directly to these sectors.
Finally, the project will have an informational website, and will present discussions on various issues like the need for a generational change in workers in the horticulture sector and the lack of information on careers related to this sector.
