In a statement, the promoters of the initiative point out that these awards are intended to support and encourage policies and projects of local governments in this area.
Thus, selected municipalities receive a total of 60,000 euros to implement projects.
The jury - composed of Tragsa Group, Social Work Tragsa Group, representatives of the FEMP and the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine - selected the finalists from among 52 municipalities that were submitted to the contest for capacity of projects "to match the sustainable rural development and environmental conservation with the recovery of heritage and natural and cultural resources."
In particular, projects dealing with the hydroelectric potential of the traditional hydraulic mills 'do Cachón Fervenza' (river Barbantiño) Amoeiro City Council (Ourense), consisting of the installation of hydroelectric turbines to power the lighting in vicinity of the mills, and 'Biolortu: educational garden' of the City of El Burgo-Burgeluko Udala (Spain), which provides for the setting up of an organic garden, spring, planting native trees and program of training.
The remaining initiatives refer to the recovery of the Mill 'La Peña de la Cascada' and its surroundings, and the recovery of 'Wounds to macerate linen' in the Central Iberian Wolf Theme Robledo, by the City of Puebla Sanabria (Zamora) and the 'Rural Development Plan The head of the Jara', the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia), landscape recovery and site theme trails ecotourists.
