The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has adopted in the last plenary session a motion asking the central government holding a Council of Ministers of the European Union in the Region of Murcia.
The motion, submitted by the Municipal People's Party, urges the central government to give an explanation for why the Region of Murcia has been excluded from events organized for the presidency of the European Union.
The Councillor for Citizen Security and People's spokesperson, Dolores Arenas, stressed that "the government of Spain has revealed an unequal and exclusive to the Region of Murcia, this is the reason that since the council requested a lumbrerense rectification and the holding of a Council of Ministers of the European Union in our community. "
The presidency of the European Union held during the first half of 2010 and includes international summits, ministerial meetings and sector forums of undoubted interest, projection and transcendence.
Thus, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras central government claims that the explanation for the exclusion of the Murcia region of class acts organized for the Presidency of the European Union.
In addition the Council urges the Government to make a correction that would put the Region of Murcia in the place that rightfully belongs in the national and European context.
